Stewart received a B.A. in 1986 from Simon Fraser University and an LL.B. in 1989 from the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law. Stewart also received an LL.M. in International Business and Trade Law and an M.B.A. in Corporate Finance from Fordham University in New York in 1991 and 1992, respectively. Stewart was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1990 and the New York State Bar in 1991.  Stewart became a partner of the firm in 2004.

Stewart has a broad range of experience in the corporate and securities areas, having been involved in numerous corporate acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations and going private transactions. Stewart has also been involved in numerous public and private offerings and other financings (including exempt, registered, Rule 144A, Regulation S and initial public offerings), having acted for both issuers and investment bankers.  Stewart has also provided strategic advice on both proxy contests and hostile and negotiated takeover bids.  Stewart is experienced in cross-border offerings and acquisitions and is well versed in regulatory compliance issues, including corporate governance matters, which arise in Canada and the United States under the regulatory framework of the Toronto Stock Exchange, the TSX Venture Exchange, NASDAQ, the Provinces of Canada, the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and the Sarbanes – Oxley Act of 2002.
